Steffen, Nicola
Nicola grew up in Schindellegi, Schwyz. He completed both his BSc and MSc in mechanical engineering at ETH, focusing on robotics and mechatronics as well as product development. In his bachelor thesis at pdz, he developed a GUI for a hybrid mock circulation, enabling a rapid experiment workflow. He continued working in the ZurichHeart project for his master thesis in which he enhanced a preload-based ventricular assist device (VAD) controller with afterload-based information to improve its physiological behaviour.
After his master thesis, he joined the biomedical systems group, focusing on ventilator testing as part of the ETH coronavirus research. Further, he supports the research on physiological control for VADs.
In his spare time, he likes to snowboard, boulder and hike as well as doing electronics related projects.
