In response to this challenge, VENT Creativity and ETH Zurich have joined forces to develop an augmented reality application tailored for orthopedic surgeons. This new application, designed for the HoloLens 2, enhances surgical precision by connecting AR glasses to a tool tracking system. It also incorporates LIDAR technology to detect a patient's soft tissue, offering surgeons a more comprehensive view of the area they're operating on. One of the standout features is the ability for surgeons to interact with holograms overlaid on the patient, giving them insights into bone density in real-time. Additionally, the application provides immediate feedback on surgical actions, such as drilling, enabling surgeons to make on-the-spot adjustments to their plans. This collaboration is a significant advancement in the fusion of technology and orthopedics.
