Martin Stöck was born in the Rhine Valley in Switzerland. After leaving school, he embarked on an apprenticeship as a physics laboratory assistant at Hilti AG. He completed a Master’s in microengineering at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), specialising in production methods and electric motors. He has been working at BRUSA, an innovative company based in the Rhine Valley that develops electric motors, since 2011. He embarked on a doctorate on improving the power density of electric motors at ETH Zurich in 2013. In his research, he analyses and improves the thermal conductivity of the winding in an electric motor. In his spare time, he enjoys being in the mountains.
