The research goals of the Biomedical Systems group are the modelling and reproduction of physiological and pathological conditions as well as of medical hardware applications to address clinical needs. With the Hardware-in-the-Loop approach or the real hardware system numerical models, new developed devices and control algorithms are investigated and tested under realistic conditions.

The multidisciplinary research project "SmartShunt - The Hydrocephalus Project" aims at conducting the basic research necessary for the subsequent development of a smart cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt for normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). Read more
