For two semesters, teams of up to eight ETH students develop a product from the initial idea to a reliable prototype of a complex mechatronic system. The projects are interdisciplinary and the ETH-Zurich student teams collaborate with students from other departments and universities (HSLU, D-ITET, ZHdK, University of St. Gallen, NTB-Buchs etc.).
Based on an innovative project idea, the teams pass through all phases of an industrial product development process. The students work in a realistic industrial environment and deal with all product development related topics: concept, draft, simulation, engineering, production, design and marketing.
Every year the teams generate outstanding project results.

The VariLeg is a novel exoskeleton for paraplegics. It incorporates variable mechanical impedance to enhance the dynamic stability while walking. At the Cybathlon in 2016 in Zurich, we will test our exoskeleton for its ability in everyday use and train a paraplegic for several months. Read more
The goal of the focus project ConVes is to invent and develop a new method to connect the hose of the heart pump and the aorta in minimally invasive heart pump implantations in order to simplify and secure this operation process for the surgeon and the patient. Read more
